First question: is it you or the servers? The card above shows how many people are playing right now (official Steam API). A sudden drop, or an outage post on Kefir’s Discord, means it’s the servers — wait it out. Timeline of launch-week outages: server status.
Stuck on “Compiling shaders” or an endless loading screen
This was the biggest problem in ROB RUN’s first week: Steam threads about it ran to hundreds of replies, in English and Russian.
| Try | Why |
|---|---|
| 1. Check the live count / Discord | The stuck-loading waves on Nov 6–7 lined up with the DDoS attacks Kefir reported. If the servers are down, nothing on your PC fixes it |
| 2. Fully restart the game and Steam | Kefir during the attacks: if you haven’t restarted your game, do it — a restart picks up the new server configuration and fixes being stuck in one location |
| 3. Verify game files | Steam → right-click ROB RUN → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files (Kefir’s help center) |
| 4. Update your graphics driver | In Kefir’s official “won’t load or keeps freezing” checklist |
| 5. Check your connection | Hotel / campus Wi-Fi, proxies and antivirus HTTPS scanning can block the game’s data (error E-0102) |
⚠️ Players also suggest setting Windows’ shader cache size to “Unlimited” in the GPU control panel. Some say it helped, many say it didn’t — it isn’t an official fix.
Can’t enter your house, plot or settlement (“failed to enter location”)
From Nov 7, players reported they couldn’t get into their own house or settlement, or got “failed to enter location”, while the servers were unstable. Kefir hasn’t posted a separate fix. Its general advice during the attacks applies: once the servers are back, fully restart the game so it picks up the new configuration.
Kefir also warned on Nov 7 that for the next few days it may restart servers without notice to apply stability fixes. If you get kicked, rejoin after a few minutes — and don’t carry big sums of cash around (bank & laundering).
Crashing on launch or older CPUs (AVX2)
- Several players on older CPUs (for example a 3rd-gen Intel i7) report crashes or not getting in, and point to missing AVX2 support. ⚠️ This is a player report — Kefir’s requirements don’t mention AVX2.
- The official minimum is an Intel Core i5-6600K or AMD Ryzen 5 1600, Windows 10 64-bit, 12 GB RAM and a GTX 1050 Ti / RX 580 (system requirements). Both minimum CPUs support AVX2, so a CPU below the minimum is the likely cause.
- Linux / Steam Deck: players report Easy Anti-Cheat blocks the game under Proton (platforms).
- Launch only through Steam so Easy Anti-Cheat starts; E-0501 / E-0502 mean it didn’t (error codes).
Lag and rubber-banding
- In launch week, lag came mostly from the attacks: Kefir warned of “higher ping and unstable connections” while they lasted.
- There are only two regions, EU and East US. Players in Asia, Oceania and South America report 270–300+ ms — the far region always lags (server status).
- On a server that’s lagging badly you can move to another one, but it goes through prison and you lose what you own there (how to change servers).
